THE PERFECT COLLECTION BY MR RICHARD GOODING
We are delighted to introduce you to The Perfect Collection by Mr. Richard Gooding.
Composed over two decades, The Perfect Collection consists of over 3,900 rare and remarkable whiskies, including the largest collection of The Macallan, Bowmore and Springbank. This unprecedented collection (the largest to ever be offered for public sale) can be described as one of the most significant discoveries in the whisky world.
The tremendous cache of over 3,900 bottles is comprised of primarily single malt Scotch whisky, however, does also feature incredible examples of American whiskey and bourbon, Irish whiskey and single cask Japanese whisky. The Collection includes highly sought-after bottles from iconic distilleries, as well as some of the world's most elusive whiskies from Scotland's long lost distilleries, which have never before been seen.
The Collection has been built and nurtured by the late Mr. Richard Gooding - an American private collector from Colorado. Mr. Gooding spent decades in pursuit of creating ‘The Perfect Collection’ of whisky, leaving no stone unturned by travelling regularly to Scotland with his pilot in search of special bottles at auctions and distilleries.
Mr Gooding's strong curatorial eye and sheer devotion to the art of collecting whisky is evident through his meticulously crafted collection - the most comprehensive to ever be seen at auction.
The Macallan 1926 Fine & Rare 60 Year Old - Currently holds the world-record for the most expensive bottle of whisky sold.
The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 60 Year Old - Last appeared for sale in 2018, where it achieved the world-record (at the time) for the most expensive bottle of whisky sold.
The Macallan 50 Year Old Lalique Six Pillars Collection - A full collection of The Macallan and Lalique's collaboration series.
Springbank 1919 50 Year Old - One of only 24 bottles produced.
Glenfiddich 1937 Rare Collection 64 Year Old - The oldest and rarest expression of The Glenfiddich. One of only 61 bottles produced.
Bowmore 1964 Black Bowmore 29 Year Old 1st Edition - Mr Gooding's favourite dram. The auction will also feature The 1964 Trilogy - Black, White and Gold and The Cask Trilogy - Oloroso, Bourbon and Fino Casks, as well as the incredibly rare Bowmore 1967 Lairgiemeanoch 12 Year Old.
O.O. Old Orkney Real Liqueur Whisky circa 1940s - A window into an altogether different era of whisky production from the long closed Stromness Distillery.
Dallas Dhu 1921 Single Cask 64 Year Old - A historic rarity not seen on the secondary market in 25 years, and in fact never seen by a number of whisky experts/connoisseurs.
The Perfect Collection by Mr Richard Gooding will take place over two separate dedicated auctions next year. The auctions will go live on Whisky Auctioneer from 7 - 17 February and 10 - 20 April 2020.
