Lindores Abbey Charity Cask Lindores Abbey offer their first cask to auction in aid of Australian Wildfire relief

Back to news

We are excited to announce that in our upcoming February Auction (28 February - 9 March), Lindores Abbey Distillery will offer the unique opportunity to win an exclusive cask and contents to raise funds in aid of supporting victims of the Australian wild fires.

The 300 bulk litres (@ 63.5% 190.5LPA) American Hogshead cask that previously held Australian Muscat from De Bortoli, has been generously donated by the Australian company Nebb Whisky Barrels and is the first cask from Lindores Abbey Distillery to be offered at auction.

As the cask aims to raise money for victims of the devastating Australian wildfires, all profits from the sale will be donated to two charities: the SA Bushfire Appeal and the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal.

The exclusive cask will be offered at auction on 28th February alongside with our monthly Whisky Auction, with bids accepted until 9th March.

With many Australian wine producers having had their businesses ravaged by the flames and both human and animal lives having been destroyed by the blazes, this is an important opportunity for bidders to contribute to a good cause.

The winning bidder will also have the exciting opportunity to fill the cask themselves at Lindores Abbey Distillery, enjoining a behind-the-scenes tour with the Distillery Manager, Gary Haggart.

Drew McKenzie Smith, commented: ‘We have been horrified by the images of devastation coming from Australia. We have many Australian members of our Preservation Society who kindly contribute to the upkeep and conservation of our Abbey and its natural surroundings, so we feel compelled to do the same for them in their country’s time of need. ‘

To participate in the auction and have the chance to win this exclusive cask, make sure to register with us.
