Vintage Chartreuse Selection

Originally created in 1605 by monks using a recipe for an elixir of long life.

Produced between 1904-1989 in Tarragona (Spain) after the Carthusian Monks were exiled from France. In 1989 the distillery in Tarragona closed down and the production of this liquor returned to France. Nowadays the bottles produce in the distillery of Tarragona have become one of the most expensive and sought after liquors in the world. The recipe contains more than 130 different plants and flowers, the Mediterranean character of the Tarragona distillery is bottled in this unique and limited liquor.

The lot is made up of four bottles:

Far Left: An example of "Une Tarragone", the nickname given to Chartreuse produced at Tarragona, Spain between 1921 and 1929. This was to seperate it from a liqueur produced at another distillery in France, known as "Tarragone".

Centre Left: A 1941 - 1951 bottling of green Chartreuse, produced at Voiron, France.

Centre Right: A more modern 1970s bottling of green Chartreuse, produced at Voiron, France.

Far Right: A 1951 - 1956 bottling of yellow Chartreuse, produced at Voiron, France.

Please note general condition and fill levels of all bottles.

There will be a shipping charge for four bottles associated with this lot.
