Thomas H. Handy Sazerac 2006 Release
Released within the famous and eagerly awaited Buffalo Trace Antique Collection.
In recent years, due to the supply shortage of bourbon, rye whiskeys - including those of Thomas H. Handy - have both become increasingly popular, and then increasingly harder to get hold of. Particularly so after the T.H. Handy Sazerac Straight Rye Whiskey 2011 release was named Jim Murray's "Whisky of the Year!"
The 2006 bottling features 24 hand-picked barrels which were filled in the spring of 1998 at 135 Proof (67.5%), with the whiskey drawn in autumn 2006 after 8 years and 5 months of ageing at 132.7 Proof (66.35%) and bottled unfiltered. The malt bill features Minnesota Rye, Grade #1 and #2 Kentucky corn and North Dakota malted barley.
