Laphroaig 15 Year Old / Mansion House
A Limited Edition, 270 bottle run drawn from a Laphroaig 15-year-old cask and presented to HRH the Prince of Wales to mark his 50th birthday. The Prince signed the cask during his visit to Laphroaig in June 1994 and donated it to Erskine Hospital 2000 Appeal of which he is Patron.
The Erskine Hospital 2000 Appeal opened in 1916 and has since cared for over 60,000 disabled ex-service men and women. The appeal aims to raise £5 million to enable the rebuilding of the hospital to meet 21st-century healthcare standards and establish Homes elsewhere in Scotland.
Three distinct labels were designed for the 270 bottles. Here we have an example of the "Mansion House" label, the rarest of the three with only 50 produced in total. Rarer still, this bottle is one of a small number of the 50 "Mansion House" labels that was not numbered, the intention being that it would be used for further fundraising events.
