Glenallachie 18 Year Old
The new look Glenallachie was released after the takeover of the distillery by Billy Walker of Glendronach and Benriach fame.
We've seen very little official Glenallachie since the 1980s as it is a major source of blending stock for Chivas Bros, but we are hopeful Billy will be able to work his magic and bring this little known distillery to the forefront of Speyside distilling.
This fantastic 18 year old expression has been matured in American oak, Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso casks and is highly regarded, winning Gold in the recent Scottiish Whisky Awards. The distillery itself also did very well, achieving the much coveted Scotch Whisky Distillery of the Year award.
From the Glenallachie Distillers Company:
"As a blender for over 40 years the warehouses are where Billy really comes into his own. Working across our 16 warehouses holding casks dating back to the 1970’s, Billy has selected a limited parcel of casks to be released as the GlenAllachie 18yo. Bottled at 46%, the signature GlenAllachie rich, robust spirit; with its heather and butterscotch notes; is balanced by extra years in cask.
COLOUR: Burnished Bronze.
NOSE: Fresh vanilla, toffee, butterscotch and spices.
TASTE: Raisins, marzipan, heather and honey, with rich notes of dark cherries, spices and subtle hints of dark chocolate.
We are delighted to donate a case of 18yo to the Beatson Cancer Charity - an organisation who help provide love, hope and support to people affected by cancer."
