Hirsch 1974 Finest Reserve 20 Year Old
This whisky has a long and storied history and is close to the heart of many Bourbon drinkers and collectors.
Part of a batch of whiskies commissioned by Adolf Hirsch to be distilled in 1974 at Pennco Distillery (now Michter's), Pennsylvania. The whisky was sold after the forclosure of Pennco and eventually much of it was transferred to stainless steel in 1990, halting the aging at 16 years, a select few casks were allowed to continue maturation until bottling at 18, 19 and 20 years old.
This bottling (Red Wax) represents the oldest expression of this much vaunted vintage.
