Domingo Souza 1878 Vintage Port
An extremely old vintage port from Domingo Souza.
This is unlikely to be a Vintage Port in the contemporary sense of the word - ie. aged in barrel for 18 months before bottling - but more likely a Colheita (vintage tawny) produced before the distinction in styles and nomenclature.
As such we believe the grapes for this wine would have been harvested and and vinified in 1878 and aged in barrel until bottling.
Based on the approximate age of the bottle and liable we would estimate bottling to have occurred in the early 20th century.
Even still this, is certainly a an extremely old bottle.
