Chateau Lafite-Rothschild 1970
From the Paulliac Appellation in the Haute-Medoc sub-region on the left-bank of the Bordeaux. Hugh Johnson (Master of Wine) has said, "If one had to single out one commune of Bordeaux to head the list, there would be no argument. It would be Pauillac."
Of the wines of Paulliac, Lafite-Rothschild is arguably one of the most sought after. Their vineyards are planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot with an average vine age of close to 40 years.
