The distillery opened it’s doors on August 17th 1995, as it became the first legal distillery on the Isle of Arran since 1837. Arran distillery has gradually gone from strength to strength, with a 10 year old, 14 year old and various wood finished comprising the single malt range that they now offer.
Interestingly the limited releases and single cask bottling that have been produced have gained in popularity at auctions with highlights emerging as the Arran Peacock which originally cost £35 and now consistently fetches £200 at auction. The peacock was the first in a series named the Icons of Arran and was closely followed by the Westie, Eagle and Rowan Tree. Other bottling to keep an eye on are the Sleeping Warrior, Devils Punch Bowl and 16 year old which sold out with retailers quite speedily.
